November Recap including 'Wicked,' 'Brilliant Minds'' Teddy Sears and Joyful Things
The best of the best in the penultimate month of 2024. Let's take a look back!
If you’re like me, you’re already planning your next visit to the theater to see Wicked so I had to include a clip from it in my followup to my Some Joyful Things post.
I had so much pulling together this new compilation so I hope it brings a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants (to quote one of the classic TV clips you’ll see). But, besides Wicked, I had to include another memorable pre-Elphaba performance by Erivo so make sure to check that out, too.
More Joyful Things...including 'Wicked!'
As we get ready to dive into the long Thanksgiving weekend, let’s leave the world behind and focus on enjoying time with family, friends, or keeping it low key and chill if you’re venturing into this holiday solo. And if you’re like me and living in a country where Thanksgiving is not a holiday, you have the freedom to make the holiday whatever you want…
Bangkok Cafes: T'IN Cafe Experience Space is a Delicious Find
Continuing in our series of great cafes in Bangkok, Thailand, Boyd and I recently heard about a space that was in our own neighborhood. Located in the Lat Phrao area of Bangkok, the space was easy to get to with about a 20-min walk or we could hop on the train, take it one stop and walk about 5 minutes to get there.
I’ve been talking to Teddy Sears since (as he reminded me) TNT’s legal drama Raising the Bar in 2008. Since then we’ve talked for The Flash, American Horror Story as well as meeting up in Bangkok when he was here filming season 2 of Netflix’s The Night Agent earlier this year. So now that I was seeing the romance heat up between Teddy’s Dr. Josh Nichols and Zachary Quinto’s Dr. Oliver Wolf, I knew it was time for an official chat (and this is only part one…part two where we talk more about the actor’s life is coming in December!).
Teddy Sears on His Character's New Romance with Zachary Quinto on NBC's 'Brilliant Minds'
[SPOILER ALERT: Only watch the video interview below if you’ve watched this week’s “The Lovesick Widow” episode of NBC’s Brilliant Minds.]

I’ll be the first to admit that it’s still an honor to see my byline on Hollywood publication Variety and I’m grateful they’ve kept me busy this year covering television from the other side of the globe. Here’s my latest piece for them, a post-mortem story for a big episode of the new CBS hit Matlock starring Kathy Bates. Check out the interview with showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman here. (Spoiler Alert - make sure you’ve watched through the “Sixteen Steps” episode before you read).

I was in Melbourne, Australia for the first time ever on a work trip (visiting the set of the upcoming Peacock drama series All Her Fault starring Sarah Snook) but I managed to get some of my own time in to wander around the amazing city.
Melbourne the Magnificent
When I heard I was going to be going to Melbourne, Australia for a TV show set visit (an upcoming series coming next year on Peacock - no spoilers!), I was thrilled since I‘d never been to the city (or the continent, for that matter) but when I realized I’d be able to work in some exploring time before flying back to Bangkok, I was even more excited.

I have been writing the “My Life in Television” column for Emmy Magazine this year and my first chat was with actress Vernee Watson, who is one of the actors who has been working steadily for decades and most recently guest starred on Apple’s Shrinking. The below story came out before that but the TV Academy pushed it out again recently so I thought I’d do the same because I had so much fun talking Watson’s impressive TV past. Check out the story here.
After the results of the U.S. presidential election, I know I needed something to lift my spirits so I decided to throw together a bunch of film, TV and music clips that just make me happy. From the personal notes and reactions on social media, it seems I wasn’t the only one who needed this boost.
Some Joyful Things
The creative juices aren’t flowing too well this week given the results of the U.S. election so, leaving the political writing to others and not wanting to dwell on what went wrong or how I’m personally feeling about it all, I have found myself looking at fun, joyful things to remind myself that all is not lost and despair isn’t the only road we can tak…
