Melbourne the Magnificent
For this first time visitor to Australia, this city made me fall in love quick!
When I heard I was going to be going to Melbourne, Australia for a TV show set visit (an upcoming series coming next year on Peacock - no spoilers!), I was thrilled since I‘d never been to the city (or the continent, for that matter) but when I realized I’d be able to work in some exploring time before flying back to Bangkok, I was even more excited.
My better half, Boyd, is a big time vacation planner and it works out well when we travel together since he loves doing the research, building that TripAdvisor itinerary and finding the places we can’t miss and the ones we can. But this time I was solo so I followed his lead and built a list of places to see in Melbourne but I kept the day fairly fluid without a major plan.
The good thing is that Melbourne is a very walkable city and the majority of the things I wanted to see (the National Gallery Victoria and spend some time along the Yarra Riverwalk) were near downtown, where I was staying. Needless to say, I had a wonderful day and half wandering before heading back to Thailand. It also helped that the weather was perfect (mid 60s/low 70s) and outside of a morning of rain, there was little humidity — at least not what I’m used to living in Thailand!
I covered a lot of ground and threw together a quick highlight reel of some of the beautiful places I saw on our travel YouTube page (which you should really subscribe to - it’s free!). I’ll do some more detailed videos soon of all these great locations but this should whet your appetite!
Have you been to Australia? Is it on your bucket list? I definitely will head back to Melbourne with Boyd as well as Sydney, Perth and more! It’s a gorgeous country.
Until next time…
Enjoy! Melbourne is a great city, especially for a tennis fan like myself.
