Teddy Sears on His Character's New Romance with Zachary Quinto on NBC's 'Brilliant Minds'
The actor also talked about whether his 'American Horror Story' role with Quinto helped him land the gig on the hot new medical drama.
[SPOILER ALERT: Only watch the video interview below if you’ve watched this week’s “The Lovesick Widow” episode of NBC’s Brilliant Minds.]
If you’ve been shipping Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto) and Dr. Josh Nichols (Teddy Sears), you’re probably very happy with the development in the “The Lovesick Widow” episode of freshman drama Brilliant Minds that aired Monday night on NBC.
With a healthy competition and some prickly exchanges since the series began, Wolf and Nichols have been slowly coming together more and more with the emotionally closed off Wolf finally realizing at the end of last week’s episode to take a chance with love and planting a big smooch on Nichols.
This week, we saw the two men enjoy this newfound level of their relationship with stolen moments to kiss in Wolf’s office as well as the hospital elevator. But, as Wolf reflects back on an earlier relationship in his teen years where his mother, Dr. Muriel Landon (Donna Murphy), who he also works with, he can’t help but see the parallels with his love life in the present. However, it’s Nichols who says that maybe they should pump the brakes and not jump into anything too serious too fast though by the end of the episode, Wolf convinces him that it’s worth trying to see where this goes and Nichols agrees.
To get the lowdown on this episode, I jumped on a zoom with Sears, who I’ve been talking to about his myriad of TV roles for a long time (I had even forgotten that we had talked prior to his role on The Flash!).
Here’s the first part of our chat about Brilliant Minds including whether working with Quinto on American Horror Story helped him land the role of Nichols as well as what’s drawing Nichols and Wolf together and where the relationship is headed as we continue in the show’s first season. The second half, which dives more into the actor’s life when you spend your career bouncing from job to job with no guarantees, will be coming soon!
Brilliant Minds airs Mondays at 10/9c on NBC and available the next day on Peacock.
Until next time…
Seems like such a cool guy...and that you have known each other for many years! Then he was in Bangkok!!!
