Author Scott Huver breaks down shaping his book about 90210's biggest crimes & scandals
I’ve known Scott Huver as one of the most respected freelance journalists in the entertainment game. If you’re talent, you’ve probably talked to him at one point or another to promote your movie or television show on a red carpet or in a 1:1 interview for one of his many outlets. If you’re a journalist like me, you know Scott as one of the good guys who is just there to fairly get a story and do his work. And if you need advice or any help, he’s always there to lend an ear or a hand.
Scott is also a lover of Hollywood so when he mentioned to me a few years back that he was starting to work on a book about the many big crimes, scandals and moments people still talk about today, I knew he had a winner on his hands. Beverly Hills Noir is that winner of a book and it hit bookstores this week (Tuesday, to be exact). I had the chance to read it early and not only does Scott weave a good story with intricate, juicy facts and observations in each chapter but as he lays out facts in cases or, as in the chapter about Winona Ryder’s infamous shoplifting trial, a who’s who of who was sitting in the courtroom witnessing the proceedings along with Scott.
But I had to hear more from the man himself so I grabbed some zoom time with Scott earlier this week to talk the book, some of the surprises he found as he dug deep into the stories he shares in the book as well as why a reporter should never, ever throw out his notes no matter how much time has passed.
Pick up a copy of Beverly Hills Noir wherever books are sold but help out your local bookstore (if you’re in Los Angeles, I suggest Book Soup, where Scott is making an appearance this Friday!) and buy (or order) a copy there. Also, follow the book on Instagram as well as Scott’s personal account to see who he’s talking to next.
