'The Chosen' Season 5 Trailer (with Prime Video Premiere Date) Will Lift You Up...and Break Your Heart

Fans of The Chosen know all too well that every season gets tougher and tougher to watch…but, on the other hand, it also gets better and better at telling the story of Jesus Christ (Jonathan Roumie), his followers and the increasing tensions as opposing forces (the Romans, more than a few disgruntled holy men) work to bring Jesus down.
Based on the season 5 trailer, released today and announcing the premiere date on Amazon Prime Video, everything escalates and, since most of us know what’s coming, it’s going to be quite the season to experience.
In season five, The Chosen: Last Supper picks up where last season left off with Jesus arriving in Jerusalem where we’ll see him confront corrupt merchants, which sparks a chain of events that shakes the city. Religious leaders continue to be up in arms over his influence and we’ll see Judas (Luke Dimyan) take steps that won’t end up being good for anyone.
The Chosen cast includes Roumie, Shahar Isaac as Peter, Paras Patel as Matthew, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene, Noah James as Andrew, George H. Xanthis as John, Abe Bueno-Jallad as Big James, Vanessa Benavente as Mother Mary, Dimyan as Judas, Richard Fancy as Caiaphas, Paul Ben-Victor as King Herod, and Andrew James Allen as Pontius Pilate. The series is produced by 5&2 Studios and written, directed, and produced by Dallas Jenkins.
Following the recent theatrical release for The Chosen when fifth season episodes 1-2, 3-5 and 6-8 were shown over consecutive weekends and grossed nearly $60 million at press time, the episode will roll out similarly on Prime Video. The first two episodes will drop on June 15 followed by three episodes on June 22 and the last three episodes on June 29. In addition to the U.S., the new season will be available on Prime Video in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, UK, and Latin America in July. The Chosen Seasons 1 through 4 are now streaming on Prime Video.
