Is Bangkok's 'Squid Game' Jump Rope Interactive Activation Creepy or Fun?
3-2-1-Jump! Also, check out the show's voice actors who made it to the series finale!
The third and final season of Netflix’s Squid Game is out now and the crazy, brutally violent and emotionally taxing (in a good way!) Korean series wraps up the story it began in 2021.
The international hit isn’t going out quietly and Netflix made sure to make a lot of noise to promote the final season, including this interactive attraction in Bangkok, Thailand. By now, the images of Younghee & Cheolsu are familiar and drew a large crowd to not just take photos in front of the display (as well as with the pink-outfitted guards) but try to jump the massive rope. But if you watch the below video and hear the children’s song playing and the Squid Game security walking around, is this more creepy or fun? Or both?
I ventured over to the exhibit, which is only in Bangkok a few more days (July 6 is the final day) and it was well worth the trip. Check it out here:
Also, for Variety, I had an exclusive chat with Greg Chun and Tom Choi, the two actors who have voiced the central Squid Game characters, Gi-Hun (Lee Jeong-jae) and Front Man, aka In-ho (Lee Byung-hun). They talked about how they act out both the emotional and physical moments in the show as well as when they found out their characters were going to make it to the final episode. Check out the interview with Chun and Choi here.
Until next time…
