Hooray! 'Hacks' Renewed for a Fifth Season by Max
No surprise, the Jean Smart/Hannah Einbinder series is coming back for more.
Hacks can do no wrong, as evident from the news on Tuesday that a fifth season renewal has been granted, just ahead of the season four finale that drops on Thursday, May 29.
The news isn’t shocking given the show, about comic legend Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) working to revitalize her career with the help of an up-and-coming writer, Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder, continues to draw in viewers and critics. In fact, the current season has been in Max’s top 5 since it’s debut in the U.S. and also a top 10 series globally. In fact, week to week this season, the show has grown in audience both in the U.S. and globally.

Erin Underhil, president of Universal Television adds, “Like Deborah Vance herself, Hacks only gets bolder, sharper, and more iconic with time. We’re beyond thrilled to keep the laughter rolling with Jen, Paul, Lucia, our extraordinary cast and crew, and our partners at Max.”
Besides Smart and Einbinder, the series also stars Paul W. Downs (who is also co-creator and co-executive producer), Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, and Rose Abdoo. The series was created by Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky.
